Shine On: Heritage trails
A summer issue that celebrates Valleys heritage. We open the doors on Rhondda Cynon Taf’s history, explore Llantrisant from the Bull Ring to its side streets, and meet Abercynon foster carers Ken and Yvonne Mason, who have been fostering for 35 years.
On the cover
Our cover miner was photographed at Rhondda Heritage Park, one of the places opening its doors during Rhondda Cynon Taf’s heritage events this September. Inside we look back at how coal shaped the Valleys, from the population boom after 1850 to the closure of Tower Colliery, the last deep mine, in 2008, and follow the heritage trails through Pontypridd, Aberdare and Llantrisant.
